Being a native of Japan, I grew up seeing Asian folk medicine being used at home. I still remember a snake being soaked in a grain alcohol bottle sitting in our kitchen cabinet. Grandma warmed my tummy with moxa sticks when I had a tummy ache and applied yellow powder to my cuts. She also wrapped my neck with grilled green onion for my sore throat and cough.

My first experience with acupuncture was in year 2000. My back went out at work. It was too painful to breathe and I could not get up for 2 weeks. Acupuncture gave me a tremendous pain relief and eventually freed me from pain completely!

In 2003, my daughter was born at home with help from my midwives and acupuncturist after a long, exhausting labor. Without their help, I would have been taken to a hospital for an emergency C-section. My daughter was born 40 minutes after acupuncture needles were inserted. The acupuncturist, Larry Weinstein, is now my respectful mentor.

In 2004, abnormal tissue growth was found in my husband's spine. Despite 3 operations, it left him with severe pain and muscle spasms. Fortunately, his diagnosis was made by a MD who was volunteering his time at a local clinic for people who do not have health insurance. Acupuncture is one of very few things that eases his conditions.

Through these experiences, I was deeply moved and inspired by those who offered us assistance at challenging times. I wanted to offer something meaningful back to them, but I felt I didn't have anything to offer. This is when I decided to become an acupuncturist so I can contribute to the happiness and health in my family and others.

I graduated from University of Oregon with a degree in Educational Studies with speciality in Family and Community Services in 1999. I have worked with families and children of various ages, including infants.

I live in Eugene, OR with my husband Dylan, daughter Momo, and a big furry Kung-fu cat named Nontan.
