At nineteen years old, I was faced with health challenges and had seen 13 doctors with no improvements. A friend kept trying to convince me to see an acupuncturist, but I was afraid of needles and didn't know much about acupuncture or Chinese medicine. Finally I decided that I had nothing to lose, so I called and scheduled an appointment. Little did I know this appointment would change everything. With weekly treatments, I began to feel better and this inspirational acupuncture experience opened my mind to using natural medicine. I felt less limited in my healthcare options after being introduced to acupuncture. After completing my undergraduate work at the University of Oregon, I also became certified as a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner (NTP).
Then, I ran a small health center and worked alongside acupuncturists, massage therapists, and other health care providers. Ever since my first acupuncture experience, I was enthusiastic about telling people about what benefits this medicine has to offer, but never would have guessed years later that I would literally wake up one day and decide to become an acupuncturist!
